FAQs

  • The transformation of a breathwork session begins the minute you book, as you commit unconsciously to embracing change. It is here that the inner work begins. When you arrive at the breathwork event, I will take you through an overview of what is going to happen and demonstrate the conscious connected breathing technique. You will be guided when to begin and supported as you breathe. The session will run for approximately 3 hours (or as specified in the event details), with the intro, the journey and an integration discussion at the end. Every session is accompanied with music that is specifically curated for the journey.

  • Conscious connected breathing is not recommended for you if you have any of the following conditions:

    - Unmanaged Diabetes or Thyroid conditions

    - Diagnosed bipolar or schitzophrenia

    - Brain or abdominal aneurism

    - Cardiovascular disease

    - High blood pressure

    - Epilepsy

    - Pregnancy

    - Detached retina or glaucoma

If you have any of these diagnoses, or are unsure or just not feeling it, make sure you let your facilitator know and you will be shown an alternate breathing pattern for the day.

  • They sure are. My events are inclusive, safe, encouraging and welcoming for the LGBTQIA++ community, veterans, all expressions of gender, race, age, culture, sexuality, ability, neurodiversity and trauma-informed. We are your people, this practice is designed to be safe, co-regulating and loving for you, and you belong here with us.

  • Conscious connected breathing is a process where you have a conscious inhale and a connected outbreath (without a gap) through the mouth - like circular breathing. This continues for the entire breathwork session. This style of breathwork activates your autonomic nervous system, bringing you into a non-ordinary state of awareness and allows you to non-verbally access, process and integrate stored or unconscious trauma in the body.

  • Touch is very personal, and you will be asked to advise if you do or do not want to be touched during the session. A breathwork facilitator will (with consent and at their discretion) use energetic touch on key body parts like head, shoulders, feet, legs, chest if it is called for to aid in the somatic release. Your facilitator has been trained extensively in the use of touch and ethics of contact in a session and you will never be touched without explicit consent which can be revoked at any time.

  • You’ll get high on your own supply! During a breathwork session, especially the longer ones, some people experience non-ordinary states of consciousness that can involve a wide array of sensations including out of body experiences, connection with other consciousnesses, experiences of oneness, clairvoyant/audient/sentient communications, visuals, astral travel – you name it. These experiences have been regularly reported across centuries of breath being used in spiritual and ritual experiences, but generally you get what you need and what you can handle and every experience is different. Come with no expectations except to surrender and breathe.

  • Trauma is really intense, anxiety is really intense, dissociation and numbing is really intense, living a life without meaning is really intense, holding on to old patterns and attachments is really intense. For some breathers in some situations breathwork releases stored emotion, locked up trauma residues, and invites a somatic expression physically, vocally and emotionally. You can experience all kinds of things in a breathwork journey, but what you do experience will be your body releasing what no longer serves you, and your facilitator will be there to support your journey and integrate your experiences at the end. Remember that you control the pace and intensity of your breath and at anytime you can slow it down and regulate your experience to what is comfortable for you in the moment.

  • Comfortable clothing that you can move in without restriction. Layers are good as some people get hot, and some get cold during a breathe. Bring a blanket for snuggliness, and any talismans or objects that you want around you, and a water bottle for hydration afterwards.

  • Breathwork journeys are best done fasted or on a very light meal a couple of hours beforehand. Breathing on a full stomach is not recommended.

  • Yes. You will be fine to drive or get public transport, Ubers etc, your facilitator will make sure that you are integrated and ready before you are finished. It is advisable to have a quiet and contemplative time after your session so you can continue to process and integrate. Don’t head out to party nom sayin.

  • Depends. If you have cold or flu symptoms or respiratory infections or COVID that’s a hard no. I’d ask you to self-manage responsibly, postpone if you have had close contact exposure or suspect you have COVID, and generally collective care for people.

If you have non-specific issues, nausea, nervousness, anxiety, or avoidant behaviors as the event is approaching, use your felt sense to work out if you might be avoiding facing an issue or being vulnerable and whether you can push through. Most importantly, listen to your body and talk to me if you are worried about anything before your session and I will help make a decision about what is best for you.
