New Course. How to do Therapy

One of the things I often hear from clients is that it took them a long time and a number of goes to land the type of therapy experience they wanted, often with a couple of horror stories thrown in.

It can be hard to work out what to do next once you decide you are ready for some growth and support, so I thought I’d make an easy to navigate course to help people understand how to do therapy.

From who’s who in the therapy zoo, to modalities, to what your first session might be like, even how to break up with your therapist, and what to do while you are waiting for a spot for you, it’s all there in a series of short practical videos and course notes.

If you are wanting to get a better understanding of the process leading up to finding a therapist and having therapy, for yourself or for someone you love, I can’t WAIT to share this with you.

Limited Spaces in 2024

If you’re a human, chances are you’ve experienced trauma - but you might not call it that or know it as such. Whether it is big T consciously experienced trauma, or small t trauma of the pre-natal, pre-verbal, epigenetic or collective trauma (which is the most common and never small), we have all experienced trauma and this experience unconsciously influences our neurobiology and in turn our behaviour and how we are in relationship to others.

Net result? We often move through the world from a place of fear, adaptation and disconnection, rather than a place of connection and Self-belief. As a therapist who works purposefully with trauma, I assume trauma is real, present and needs to be addressed and integrated in the body for us to be able to come back to the regulated Selves no matter who we are.

Global best practice for trauma therapy is somatic: a combination of mind and body work, recognising the key role the autonomic nervous system plays in healing our deepest wounds. Drawing from the science of safety, trauma, neuroception, felt sense, and elements of contemporary person-centred theory I use a combination of somatic therapies like Internal Family Systems (IFS), Compassionate Inquiry, breathwork, somatic experiencing techniques and psychodynamic psychotherapy to support your journey and growth towards your full flourishing.

In 2024, I am taking on limited one-one clients due to my leadership facilitation commitments and travel. Here’s the T if you want to work with me:

  • Sessions are on Zoom and are 60mins.

  • They cost $1250 GST inc for 5 sessions paid upfront and scheduled between 2 and 4 weeks apart, so processing can happen in between

Over a couple of years of working one-on-one, I see best results with clients when these conditions are present:

  • You need to be ready to commit to a 5 session block so we have a clear sequence to work through

  • Be committed to do the work between sessions and genuinely ready and motivated for change

  • Your situation is relatively safe and regulated to enable you to be vulnerable and safely undertake your inner work

  • See this as an investment in your wholeness not a cost, and

  • Be willing to sit in the discomfort of growth, knowing I’m right there with you.

This therapy practice is a safe and very welcoming place for EVERYBODY and every identification, you are seen, heard, loved and known to me, so know you will be cared for. Email me via the contact page to express interest if you feel ready for change.
