Trauma-Informed Leadership, Culture & Teams

“In the past jobs were about muscles, now they’re about brains, but in future they’ll be about the heart.” - Minouche Shafik, Director, London School of Economics

That future is now. If you are leading people, then you are leading trauma - yours and theirs. That might sound dramatic, but behind each of your people is a story and a nervous system that has been conditioned by their experiences, all of which is showing up at work every day.

Whether it is big T consciously experienced trauma, or small t interpersonal trauma of the pre-natal, pre-verbal, epigenetic, abandonment, adaptive, attachment-based or collective trauma, we have all experienced trauma and this experience unconsciously influences our neurobiology and in turn our behavior and capacity to be in relation with each other.

And you know what else? That trauma is building your teams and culture. Psychological safety is the number one element that drives productivity, minimises turnover and keeps people happy, productive, inspired and innovative.

Trauma-informed leadership, teams and culture assumes trauma is real, present and needs to be addressed and integrated in the leadership experience - ours and those we lead. Trauma-informed leadership means that we see each of our people and meet them where they are. That through Self-awareness and Self-leadership we create the cultures that allow everyone to be innovative, creative, curious and committed to their roles and outputs.

Think you’re not a leader? We are all leading ourselves in relation with other humans all day every day in every arena. Its what we were neurobiologically hard wired for, so lets do it consciously and with connection.

Human Scale Culture + Teams

Human scale is a concept borrowed from architecture, that the human self exists within a larger system of people, places, spaces, and culture, all of which inform and influence the experience of being us and how we respond - and react - to these factors.

This is particularly relevant when people are part of teams and leadership groups within a system that manages vulnerability and trauma.

This bespoke training combines contemporary best practice in leadership and culture education for self-awareness, systems thinking, trauma-informed training, and courageous self-leadership in a two-day program that is practical + experiential. Participants will learn tools and daily practices to embed in their team and beyond.
